High School Classroom Table TriVider
This 3D printed TriVider is designed to hold three dividers together for my high school STEM lab tables (3 sided instead of 4) to prevent sideways glances during assessments. A Bear Paw is on each of the left “walls” of the TriVider (Go Bears!), with our school motto, “Character before Career” on the right, which hopefully serves as a reminder of what Stony Brook education is really about.
Design Process
Version 1
At first, the middle circle was designed to be closed. After realizing the design flaw that it leaves a gap in the middle, the Trivider was redesigned so the the dividers go through the circle (as pictured). The circle in middle now serves as supports.
However, there is still a minimal, but possible gap in the middle. Not a bad start, but I wonder if there’s a better way…
Version 2
Complete redesign. Now, instead of having a circle in the middle, we decided to have an overlap, an intersecting triangle in the middle so it would be impossible to see through.
This is a cleaner, sleeker design that is also easier to manufacture and demands less material.
